Event Details

If you like to walk and are interested in pedestrian advocacy, you are invited to come walk with us. On Saturday, May 21 and Wednesday, May 25, We will be testing revisions to the Pedestrian Environmental Quality Index (PEQI), a pedestrian environment audit tool developed by the San Francisco Department of Public Health.

During each session, we will spend the morning discussing how the PEQI was developed and training you to use it to evaluate streets and intersections. In the afternoon, we will spend several hours collecting data along street segments in San Francisco. The data will be used to test the reliability and consistency of indicator values from one user to another.

Morning coffee/snacks and lunch will be provided. Registration is free and participants will receive a thank you gift at the end of the workshop for helping us collect data.

If you prefer to register over the phone, please call (415) 252-3978.

What is the PEQI?

Drawing on published research, the PEQI is a comprehensive observational tool with over 30 intersection and street segment indicators that reflect the quality of the built environment for pedestrians. It has been used and adapted in San Francisco development plans and by private and public agencies in the Bay Area and across the country. For more information, visit:
